Reach Standards in Supported Living is a publication from Paradigm, designed to fill the gap in relation to Supported Living as a consequence of the Care Standards Act. It was launched in June 2002, at Portcullis House, House of Commons by the Rt. Hon. Harriet Harman, QC, MP.
Reach has been designed to be used in a variety of ways; it can be used to:
- Tell you if a service really is Supported Living
- Tell you how well a service is doing at Supported Living and how it can improve
- Assess a whole service’s or area’s potential to develop Supported Living
Reach – Standards in Supported Living sets nine clear standards for Supported Living. These standards are broken down into a range of outcome measures which can be used by any service supporting people with learning disabilities in their own homes.
The 9 standards are:
- I choose who I live with
- I choose where I live
- I choose who supports me
- I choose how I am supported
- I choose what happens in my own home
- I have my own home
- I make friendships and relationships with people on my terms
- I am supported to be healthy and safe on my terms
- I have the same rights and responsibilities as other citizens
