We are looking to identify 10-20 young people who are about to go through this change during 2012 so we can start to ease/introduce this process to them. In doing so this will allow them to meet new consultants and ask any questions they may have concerns over.

My requests for this element of the project are as follows:

Please can you help communicate this Open Day to any consultants/carers/parents of a young person who are about to undertake transition to Aintree? We are planning for 10-20 young people between the ages of 15-17 years (this may be older if they have special needs) and their parents/carers are welcome too. Please find an invitation template attached.

We would like to invite any relevant 3rd party to the Open Day so a young person and their carer/parent may get an understanding of the full transition. Please can you help identify any groups (for exampleMersey Travel), who you feel would be beneficial to a young person in this situation?

On the day we are running 2 workshops (1- creative arts and 2- creative writing), which will form the basis of the content within the Roald Dahl book. Please could you feedback your opinion as to key messages that would be useful to extract from these workshops? The titles for the sections within the workshop correlate to the chapters in the book: Why do I have to change, Change is Scary, Change is Different and Change is fun.

The current deadline for application to the Open Day is the 31st December 2011.

I would be grateful if you could forward this information to the Roald Dahl nurses, Laura Neely and Anne Sweeney.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Overview

China’s cultural heritage is alive and well all year round in Liverpool, which is home to one of the oldest Chinese communities in Europe.

Today, Liverpool’s Chinatown is busy and vibrant, complete with a magnificent Chinese arch, the largest Chinese Arch in Europe and the largest outside of mainland China.

The arch is the perfect backdrop for Chinese New Year celebrations this January, as the city waves goodbye to the Year of the Rabbit and welcomes the Year of the Dragon.

Celebrations will take place January 22 in the Liverpool Chinatown area including Nelson Street, Berry Street, Great George Street and Great George Square.

The celebrations are always a riot of colour and excitement and 2012 will be no exception. Why not wander through Chinatown and soak up the atmosphere?

With something for all ages, don’t miss:
- Traditional Lion, Dragon and Unicorn Parade
- Firecracker Display
- Taste of China Sunday Street Market
- John Collins Funfairs

Did you know?
The Dragon is magnificent. He is flamboyant, attractive and full of vitality and strength. In China the Dragon is the imperial symbol, the sign of the emperor, or the male element Yang. The Dragon is the symbol of power and wealth.

It would be right to say that people born in the year of the dragon have a natural charisma and are certainly gifted with power and luck.

Famous Dragons include… Jeffrey Archer, Michael Barrymore, Count Basie, Julie Christie, James Coburn, Bing Crosby, Neil Diamond, Matt Dillon, Placido Domingo, Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas, Marlene Dietrich, Tom Jones, John Lennon, Nick Nolte, Al Pacino, Elaine Paige, Gregory Peck, Cliff Richard, Martin Sheen, Ringo Starr, Shirley Temple.
