Open Day at Aintree Hospital – 1st February 2012
We are looking to identify 10-20 young people who are about to go through this change during 2012 so we can start to ease/introduce this process to them. In doing so this will allow them to meet new consultants and ask any questions they may have concerns over.
My requests for this element of the project are as follows:
- Please can you help communicate this Open Day to any consultants/carers/parents of a young person who are about to undertake transition to Aintree? We are planning for 10-20 young people between the ages of 15-17 years (this may be older if they have special needs) and their parents/carers are welcome too. Please find an invitation template attached.
- We would like to invite any relevant 3rd party to the Open Day so a young person and their carer/parent may get an understanding of the full transition. Please can you help identify any groups (for exampleMersey Travel), who you feel would be beneficial to a young person in this situation?
- On the day we are running 2 workshops (1- creative arts and 2- creative writing), which will form the basis of the content within the Roald Dahl book. Please could you feedback your opinion as to key messages that would be useful to extract from these workshops? The titles for the sections within the workshop correlate to the chapters in the book: Why do I have to change, Change is Scary, Change is Different and Change is fun.
The current deadline for application to the Open Day is the 31st December 2011.
I would be grateful if you could forward this information to the Roald Dahl nurses, Laura Neely and Anne Sweeney.
Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
